About Black Poison Tattoo Studio

Tattoo and piercing studio in Bodakdev, Ahmedabad, since 2007

Our story since 2007

Black Poison Tattoo Studio opened in June 2007, when two working tattoo artists took a small studio in Ahmedabad at a time when the city had a handful of tattoo shops and most people still travelled to Mumbai for serious work. The idea was simple and has not changed: custom designs only, a sealed needle opened in front of every client, and an artist who specialises in the style you want.

Nineteen years later the studio works from 101 – Shilp 3 on Sindhu Bhavan Road in Bodakdev, with a team of 15+ artists and piercers, more than 2,00,000 tattoos completed, and a 4.8-star rating from 2,500+ Google reviews. Clients come from across Ahmedabad and Gujarat, and a steady number travel in from other cities and abroad for large custom pieces that are planned on WhatsApp and finished in one visit.

Along the way the studio added a body piercing practice, a tattoo training academy for new and working artists, and a hygiene protocol that we are happy to be judged on. What we did not add is a flash book: every piece still starts with a conversation and a drawing.

The team and how we work

The team

Fifteen-plus artists and piercers, each with a lane: hyper-realism and portraits, fine line and micro work, geometric and mandala, blackwork and tribal, watercolor, Hindu and spiritual iconography, script and Sanskrit lettering, cover-ups, and a dedicated piercer for ear, facial and body work. At the consultation you are matched to the specialist for your style, not to whoever is free. Browse by style in Tattoo Categories, or see healed work in the portfolio.

How a tattoo happens here

  1. Free consultation. Idea, references, placement, size; we recommend an artist and give a written estimate. Book it or walk in any day between 11 AM and 9 PM.
  2. Custom design. Your artist draws from your brief; you approve the design, then the stencil, then the placement. Nothing is permanent until you have said yes three times.
  3. Hygiene you can watch. Needles and tubes opened from sealed packs in front of you; new ink caps, gloves, razors and barrier film for every client; autoclave and ultrasonic sterilisation for anything reusable; the chair and station disinfected between sessions; used needles handed back or destroyed in front of you.
  4. Aftercare and touch-up. A printed or WhatsApp aftercare card, a direct line for healing questions, and a free touch-up within three months. The full routine is in our tattoo aftercare guide.

Pricing is published openly in our tattoo cost guide for Ahmedabad; piercing services, jewellery and healing times are on the piercing page.

Training and community

The studio runs a tattoo academy with two course levels for beginners and working artists, hires through its careers page, and partners with Ahmedabad’s Navratri garba events on seasonal offers. Client reviews, 2,500+ of them, are public on our Google Business Profile.

Our artists turn your idea into a design drawn for you alone. No flash, no repeats.

The studio is built around a team of skilled artists who share a passion for tattooing and for connecting with clients to bring their ideas to life.

Black Poison Tattoo Studio is committed to the growth of tattoo art in Ahmedabad and across India.

Every major Indian city has embraced the art; sharing honest information with anyone who asks is how it earns the same respect here.

Our aim is to give you a piece of art you will be proud to wear, in a clean, friendly and professional studio, with complete privacy and comfort during your appointment.

The two founders have over 40 combined years of tattoo experience and opened Black Poison Tattoo Studio in June 2007. They still tattoo full time.

Around them the studio has built a team of skilled artists who share the same approach: custom work, clean technique, and time spent understanding the client before anything goes on skin.
