Placement and jewellery across the ear
The set is balanced top to bottom. The helix ring is placed high on the rim where it catches the eye first, and a plain slim ring keeps it masculine and low-key. The tragus wears a black bead rather than a stone, which reads as a dark dot from the front and does not compete with the lobe. The lobe is where the sparkle sits: a square crystal in a four-claw setting at the bottom with a smaller round crystal stacked above it. Mixing a matte black piece, plain metal and two crystals is a good template for men who want more than a single stud but nothing that looks like a full jewellery display.

Healing four piercings on one ear
The two lobe piercings typically heal in six to eight weeks. The tragus and helix are cartilage and take six to twelve months, often longer, and having four fresh piercings on one side means the ear needs real protection: sleep on the other side, keep phone calls and earbuds on the opposite ear, and take care with helmets and tight caps. Clean each piercing twice a day with sterile saline, do not twist any of the jewellery and do not change pieces early. A ring in the helix, as shown here, is best worn once the piercing has healed; a flat-back stud is more stable to start with.

Which of these piercings hurts the most?
The tragus, because it is dense cartilage and close to the ear canal, gives the firmest pinch and a feeling of pressure. The helix is a quick sharp sting and the lobes are the easiest of all. Each is over in a moment, and doing all four in one sitting is comfortable for most men, with the ear feeling warm for the rest of the day.
How long will the whole set take to heal?
The lobe studs settle within six to eight weeks. The tragus and helix take six to twelve months and sometimes longer, and healing is slower when several piercings on the same ear are fresh at once. Keep up twice-daily saline cleaning, sleep on the other side and keep earbuds off that ear. We will downsize the cartilage posts once the swelling has gone.
Can I get a helix ring straight away?
We recommend starting the helix with a flat-back stud, because a ring moves as you sleep, wear a helmet or brush hair, and that movement irritates fresh cartilage. Once it has healed we can swap in a slim ring like the one shown and size it to hug the rim properly. If you already know you want a ring, tell us and we will plan the placement for it.
Can men get just the lobe or just the helix done?
Of course. Every piece in this set works on its own: a single crystal stud in the lobe, a plain helix ring or a black bead in the tragus are all common requests from men.
