Realistic and Portrait Tattoo in Ahmedabad
Hyper-Realism in Black and Grey and Full Colour
Realistic tattooing is the most technically demanding style in the art form. It requires mastery of shading, contrast, depth, and skin behaviour – skills that take years to develop.
At Black Poison Tattoo Studio, our realism specialists have produced thousands of photographic-quality portraits, pet portraits, and nature compositions that hold their quality over time.
Realism Styles We Offer
Styles Within Realism
Black and Grey Realism
The most popular realism style. Soft gradients, deep shadows, and bright highlights combine to create a photograph in ink. Ideal for portraits, nature subjects, religious imagery, and memorial tattoos.
Colour Realism
Full colour with the same photographic depth as black and grey. More complex and time-intensive, but the result is a vivid, lifelike image on skin.
Portrait Tattoos
Human portraits – a loved one, a family member, a celebrity, a deity. Our portrait specialists work from your high-quality reference photograph.
Pet Portrait Tattoos
Faithful reproductions of your pet’s face or full body. One of our most requested subjects.
Spiritual and Deity Portraits
Lord Shiva, Ganesha, Krishna, Durga – painted in photorealistic detail. We have completed over 1,000 spiritual realism pieces.

Reference Photo Requirements
The quality of your reference photograph directly affects the quality of your portrait tattoo. Here is what we need:
High Resolution
At least 1,000 pixels wide, not a screenshot or WhatsApp compressed image.
Good Lighting
Natural daylight or studio lighting, no harsh shadows across the face.
Clear Focus
The subject should be sharp, not motion-blurred.
Correct Angle
Straight-on or 3/4 profile works best; extreme angles are harder to translate.
Recent Photo
If the subject has aged, use a current photo unless you specifically want a younger likeness.
If your photo is not ideal, our artists will advise what is achievable before you commit.
