Yin Yang

Yin Yang Tattoo Designs in Ahmedabad

A yin yang tattoo represents balance between opposites, and the idea that neither side is complete without the other. The small dot of each colour inside the other is the essential part of the symbol: nothing is ever purely one thing.

Executing it well is harder than its simplicity suggests. The dividing S-curve has to sweep evenly and meet the outer circle at exactly opposite points, the two halves have to be equal in area, and the solid black side has to be packed densely enough that it stays truly black rather than fading to charcoal. Our artists pay particular attention to that saturation, since a yin yang loses its whole meaning if the contrast between the halves softens over the years.

Popular Yin Yang Tattoo Designs

The plain symbol in solid black is the classic. Variations incorporate a koi fish into each half, a dragon and tiger pairing, or a mandala fill from our geometric mandala and dotwork work. Clean-edged versions belong to blackwork, small ones to minimalist and small tattoos. See also spiritual and religious tattoos.

Best Placement for a Yin Yang Tattoo

Flatter areas keep the circle true: the inner forearm, the back of the neck, the wrist, the ankle and the outer shoulder.
